Typical Dating Timeline

By popular opinion………..?
Whats your opinion on the subject of relationships/friendships?
Note: I am aware every relationship and friendship is not the same as no two people or combination of two people are identical. But through this surveyish of sorts I’m hoping to glimpse some qualities of human interaction perhaps =)
Friendships -
How fast is too fast?
How long is too long?
How close is too close?
Why is it “too fast” “Too long” and “too close”?
Typically how long does the cycle last? If you can sketch a timeline that’s great!
Relationships –
When do they really start?
At what point is it truly over?
At what age does the meaning of relationship become clear? ( for ex. 13 year olds dating. Assuming a relationship is a serious, individual decision on behalf of both parties. Typically are they really in a relationship? )
Sketch a timeline of a typical, and successful relationship and then one inbetween if possible.
Merci! =)
Well I’ll offer you my opinion!
Friendships -
How fast is too fast?
For me it’s more about the quality than the quantity of time we spend together and the experiences we share.
How long is too long?
No such thing. I can imagine myself being an old lady with my best friends.
How close is too close?
Again, no such thing. They’re like family to me.
Why is it “too fast” “Too long” and “too close”?
See above.

My closest friends are earned slowly… we usually do a lot of things together at the beginning, and find out we really understand each other / get along. Over time, we’ve become like sisters to each other. We know almost better than anyone else what we’ve been through and where we’re coming from. I hope it lasts a lifetime.
Relationships -
When do they really start?
When you both realize you want to be together.
At what point is it truly over?
When someone realizes they don’t want to be in the relationship anymore.
At what age does the meaning of relationship become clear? ( for ex. 13 year olds dating. Assuming a relationship is a serious, individual decision on behalf of both parties. Typically are they really in a relationship? )
A relationship is really any interaction between two people. There is no set of rules that must be followed. That’s my opinion. If it’s adding to your life and making you happy (and not hurting you in any way), then by all means go for it IMO.

Not sure what this means. My types of relationships usually start with meeting a guy through friends or in a common area of interest / work. We talk and get to know each other and eventually he’ll ask me out. I’m fairly stable so the next year or so is spent just doing fun stuff together and getting to know each other better. If there are inherent compatibility problems it usually doesn’t last beyond that. Otherwise I keep my fingers crossed…
