Dating Waltham Pocket Watches

I want to know where I can take an antique pocket watch of my grandfathers to be appraised.?
I found a Waltham pocket watch that dated back to 1918 in my grandfathers house. I want to know where I can have it appraised at?
If your local library has the 2010 Complete Price Guide to Watches (Tinderbox publication) it would be worth looking at. This would help you decided whether or not it would be worth the cost of having the watch officially appraised.
A Waltham pocket watch (in working condition) from that period could be worth anything from $25 to several hundred dollars or more depending on the casing (nickel, .800 silver, sterling silver, 14kt gold or higher) or if it has a rare mechanism or rare design.
Phone a local auction house that does antique & collectible auctions and say that you have some antique watches that you’re thinking about listing in their auction, but you were wanting to have the watches appraised. Ask them if they have any appraisers for antique watches.
A written appraisal could cost anywhere from $25 to $75 so check, either in the price guide above or at a couple of antique stores to see if they have any ideas (they’ll often tell you a low price, thinking that you’re wanting to sell to them) on the watch’s value.
