An American Airlines ticket was purchased for me, but the person cancelled it- I still need to fly?

My ex-boyfriend purchased a ticket for me using his American AAdvantage miles.
When he purchased the ticket, we were dating. We’ve now broken up, and my trip is coming up. I called AA, and they said he cancelled the ticket.
HOWEVER- I put a password on my account/ticket and with notes that said WITHOUT THE PASSWORD, NO CHANGES CAN BE MADE. The Advantage department is closed, so I have to wait until tomorrow, but Cust. Svc has said there is nothing they can do because it was his account. While I understand this, several reps FAILED TO TELL ME THIS, when I SET UP THE password. In fact, it was recommended by them.
Now I’m afraid I’ll be stuck in an unfamilar part of the state because my ex is intentionally trying to have me stranded…
I understand AA’s policies, but there has to be something said for getting wrong information from previous reps…
Help!

Of course you don’t have to fly. This is why they always overbook flights because they expect a certain number of people not to show up. So, relax, don’t stress. I recently bought a roundtrip ticket to Europe (which was thousands of dollars cheaper than a one way ticket) knowing that I don’t intend to come back to the States anytime soon.
