Dating Rules For Teenagers

Parents of teenagers…………………………?
When your child/ren were much younger, did you decide then and there what your rules/opinions were on issues such as dating, curfews, homework, chores, driving etc, or did you deal with it as the time came?
For those of you who did decide ahead of time, did you find yourself changing your mind as your child got older?
Parents of younger children, which do you find yourself doing- planning ahead or keeping an open mind until the issue arises?
My style has never been to have anything set in stone. I don’t believe you can have anything but a general idea of what your expecting. I find it very amusing for all these people that say you just tell them not to do drugs or have sex, that’s very funny. It certainly doesn’t work that way. I think rules for kids are an ever changing thing and they must be included in the discussions about them, their voices must be heard along with the understanding that the parent has the final say. I also find it amusing that they think the grades in elementary school really mean their kid will do well in the higher levels. If the child is struggling in grades 3 through 6, they will not do well in the higher grades unless some sort of intervention is done. That’s how it works.
