A skull was found and was estimated at 65 million years ago.Although the skull itself was found in a layer of rock that suggests that it is very old and initial carbon-14 dating of the surface revealed a much younger age approx. 8300 years ago suggesting that dinasours roamed th earth when humans did.
A. What is the half-life of carbon-14? How is this radioisotope different than carbon-12?
B. Carbon-14 a beat emitter forms from the bombardment of nitrogen-14 with a neutron. What is the balanced nuclear equation for the formation and decay of Carbon-14?

Half-life C-14 is 5730 ± 40 years. C-12 has 6 protons and 6 neutrons. C-14 has 6 protons and 8 neutrons.
1neutron + N-14 —> C-14 + 1 proton (also known as hydrogen)
as for C-14 decay. There are two types of Beta emitters. Beta plus and beta minus. C-14 goes through beta minus decay process. This means that a neutron in the atom turns into a proton and an electron plus some other stuff you need not worry about. so basically, C-14—-(b-)—> N-14 + 1 electron.
