What is the order of Middle Earth books?
What is the order of the Middle-Earth based books written by J. R. R. Tolkien. I am not meaning by the date the book itself was released but the order they go in the story, I think The Silmarillion was first and that the Lord of the Rings series was towards the end but that’s all I know.

The order is
The Silmarillion
This tells of the first age with the coming of elves and men. It focuses around the silmarilli three jewels that captured the lost light of the two trees of Valinor and the rebellion of the Noldor(elves) to get it back. It tells basically of the wars fought. I contains important stories for understanding of middle earth such as of Turin Turumbar(shortened form of the Children of Hurin) and Beren and Luthien. It is made up of a few major books
-Ainundale(creation)
-Valaquenta(about the valar(or gods)
-Quenta Silmarillion(the main story of the silmarills)
-Akallabeth(the downfall of numenor-important in understanding LOTR)
-Of the Rings of Power (summary of LOTR)
The Silmarillion is mainly about the elves.
The Children of Hurin
This story can be found in the Silmarillion, but is also a book in itself. it occurs toward the end of the first age and it can be hard to tell whether to read before or after the silmarrilion. It tells of Hurin, a man who defied the dark lord Morgoth and his familly who was cursed and the tragic happening dduring the times.
The Hobbit
Tells of the finding of the ring of power by a hobbit called Bilbo Baggins while on an adventure to help some dwarves claim back their kingdom form a dragon.
The Lord of the Rings
well it think you know what this is about. Frodo goes on a journey to destroy the ring, lots of other happenings at the same time.
Suggested reading order
The Hobbit(starts of things with not too much connected with the history)
The LOTR(the appendix begins to give a view into the hisdtory of middle earth.)
The Silmarrilion(sort of sumss all the stuff up)
The Children of HUrin(You wont really understand it if you dont read the silmarrilion)
