Which airline?
London to Manila with a 6 month old baby
- Oasis and Cebu Pacific – cheapest, decent, but no guaranteed connection in HK
- Qatar – cheapest of the guaranteed interline connections, Doha airport supposedly poor and on-time performance is poor
- Etihad – mixed reviews
- Gulf Air – never again (late, cancelled, broken seats on planes – but good food)
- KLM
- Lufthansa – 1 change of plane as well as a stopover in China
- Cathay – expensive
- Singapore Airlines – slightly more expensive, but a chance of flying the A380, and is one of the best airlines in the world.
There are a couple more options but they’re expensive (£700+ for the dates I want).
Thoughts?
MH price is £720.20 for the dates I want (14th June – 28th June).
American is a silly choice.
I must admit, I’m tempted to splash out on Singapore. BTW the fares I’ve found so far are around £480 for Oasis+Cebu, around £515 for Qatar/Etihad/Gulf, and around £615 for Singapore.
Singapore Airlines would be my first choice. However you cannot go wrong with Cathay Pacific either. Both carriers are extremely safe and have great in-flight service. Singapore has a great in-flight entertainment system which is good because you are on an airplane for a long time. Also Singapore’s Changi International Airport is a good airport to connect in. It is a safe airport and efficiently run.
If you are a member of a Star Alliance carrier such as United, Singapore or 20 other airlines, then I would suggest either Singapore Airlines, Lufthansa or Qatar.
If you are a member of the OneWorld Alliance, you should fly Cathay Pacific.
If you do not have a frequent flyer membership with an airline, I would suggest you join one prior to your trip.
