Why is “interracial” dating such a big deal in the US?
I’ve dated people of all different backgrounds and it has never been a big deal. Earlier this year I was in the US and my partner and I were the only mixed race couple around

Because the US is a county that was built on the subjugation of people, specificially people of color. Don’t get me wrong, they subjegated and used white people too-ask the Irish, Scotts, Welsh, etc. Witness the current utterly stupid transformation of french fries to “freedom fries:”
But Black people “stood out the most’ and contrasted with everyone else and couldnt “fade into the background”.
Made for easier targets, with typicially and (legally were forbidden to: own land-unless a white person or the US government sold it to them, couldnt get bank loans, couldn’t own or run a business, couldnt get into the better universities and if a smart person did get in and graduate from a prestigious university, no hospital, law firm or corporation would hire him or her- that’s why all of thise Pullmen porters [guys who worked on
the trains back inthe 30's thru the late 50's] were so organized and so well educated, cause most of them were college educated-doctors, lawyers, professionals, from good hard working families – who couldnt get comprable compensation). America is divided by race, and the people who don’t acknowledge it are perpetuating the racism that continues to divide us. They have been systematicially taught that everyone other than Black people are important and credible in the system, when someone publicly “pops up”, they criticize and analize them too death -checking for perfection, if they find flaws in these publlicized humans, they tear them down and if tye don’t find flaws, ie. Condoliza Rice-they imply that they act “white” a nd are defacto whites. As if white people don’t ever make mistakes, heh, heh, heheh, look at out “President, Mr “C” student, cant barely put together a coherent sentence Bush”
Interracial dating makes a number of Americans of varied races uncomfotable cause youre’ being together pushes the fact that so many were pushed behind and/or away from a decent life-let along being with the person that they might have, could have, or should have been with due to the pigment of their skin.
That’s why interracial dating is a big deal; it brings to the forefront – dead center in the eyes of people that have their own issues with the 800 ton elephant in the middle of the room, and therefore the country.
