Yes it is wrong. In marriage, two people become one in both flesh and spirit. Why would any believer ever wish to become one with an unbeliever?
2Cr 6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
2Cr 6:15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?

God wants godly children in Christian marriages:
Mal 2:15 Didn’t the LORD make you one with your wife? In body and spirit you are his. And what does he want? Godly children from your union.
